Marketplace Security Related - Enabling Google reCAPTCHA

Marketplace Security Related - Enabling Google reCAPTCHA

Dear Partners,

Our monitoring team has found a few malicious attempts to access some marketplace we manage.

As an added layer of security, we do request that you enable Google Re-Captcha on all marketplaces managed by your team.

Please follow the steps below on how this can be enabled in the backend.

Step 1: Enable Google Captcha from backend admin https://docs.magento.com/user-guide/stores/security-google-recaptcha.html

Step 2: Changes in Customer > Captcha > disabled (This step will disable default Magento Re-Captcha on customer config)

Step 3: Changes in Advanced > Admin > Captcha > disabled (This step will disable dafault Magento Re-Captcha on admin config)

The implementation of the Google Captcha will protect marketplace applications against malicious automated bot attacks originating from different parts of the globe. These attacks have the potential to significantly slow down the application loading and response times. We do have many layers of security controls protecting the marketplace application and hosting infrastructure from similar attacks.

However, we believe having this additional layer of control at the application level will make marketplaces more robust and secure.

Regards,

Vamshi Krishna
